I am Italian, I saw the final Italian when I was a child, it was a shock to discover that it was wrong, I did not want to hear talk about Candy until I read the manga and novels, and I discovered that in the end she is not with Albert but alone in the house pony
I can imagine that... I was in high school in Belgium, when some girls were talking about Candy, when I started to listen, they were like "we're talking about the Candy the anime, don't mind us..." and I told them," I love Candy too, I'm interested" She was surprided and happy... onr of them was Italian and she said her cousin in Italy had told her that Susanna was going to die and Terry will go back to Candy... that was before the ending in Belgium... so when I saw the episode when Terry goes to Chicago drunk... I thought we were going to get our happy ending... nope! Then the last episode... until the last minute, I waited for Terry to show up... nothing! We got the newspaper article and Candy wishing them happiness!!! So I said to myself that the Italian got another ending... we got screwed in Belgium and France! And my sister and I were talking about writing our own ending back then already!!! we used to do that with tv shows and movies, when we didn't like the ending we changed it in our minds playing with our dolls doing the scenes or just talk and invent our own ending!
I open a new topic to answer so we do not move off topic
The biggest shock was the news: Candy get married Albert in manga .... but where they have seen that?
In Italian sites run much this news or the news: in the intentions of the authors Candy finds her great love in Albert.
Many think that the love of Candy and Terry is a passionate transitory.
In the manga Mizuki describes the Candy and Terry's love as a great love:
-He helps her overcome the shock about Anthony's death
-She helps him to speak with his mother
-She brings out the passion in him for the theatre
-Thanks to him she decides to find her own way
-Both are faithful when they are away
-Both think seriously of marriage
Is Terry a man egoist and unreliable?
Ok I want a man egoist and unreliable
In the novels Mikuki uses words of love only about Terry and Candy:
In volume 3 the letter never mailed and the letter sent to Eleonor are very clear about the Candy's feelings.
In the volume 2 there is a diary written by Candy in college where she describes the power of his love for Terry.
Candy mails this diary to his uncle William ... uncle William is Albert ... so he knows the power of Candy's feelings for Terry.
I think that we can not say that she is in love at the end with Albert!
In my mind Susanna will die, she is a disability in the early years of the twentieth century .. what can she live ... I think not very much (I am very bad)
She is not Elisa, she wants to be loved and can not wait all her life ...
These are for me Candy and Terry after Susanna, I love this picture and these words
Candy: "How about some pumpkin pie?"
Terry: "Pumpkin pie? I thought you're offering me *peach pie!"
Candy puffs up her cheeks.
Terry pokes her cheeks to deflate them.
The shining river flows.
The river is singing with bright voices as it flows.
Candy: "Terry please don't come too close to me
because in my heart, a high-pitched sound of a piano is playing
and I'll be embarassed if you heard it!"
Sunny afternoon of May.
Candy: "Humid breeze feels wonderful
and it's so quiet here, Terry.
I feel like we're the only people in the world."
*Pronounced "pechenko pie"...in japanese it means"flat breast"!
This was Terry's true meaning, making a play with his words!
